What can PT do for Jaw Pain?
What is the Temporomandibular Joint?
The TMJ joint (temporomandibular joint) is one of the most active joints of the body. It is crucial for speaking, chewing, breathing, yawning, and facial expressions. The joint, located just in front of the ear, is the connection point of the mandible to the temporal bone. Jaw pain is commonly linked to dysfunction in the temporomandibular joint (TMJ). Grinding of teeth, clenching the jaw, stress, arthritis, malalignment, muscle tension, and poor posture can all result in debilitating jaw pain.
