Workshop Descriptions:

LifeWave Informational Talk (45 minutes)

Kristi Subera, distributor for LifeWave is here to tell you how these patches can change your life! The science of phototherapy, which has been around for about 100 years, uses light to improve the health of the body. As far back as two thousand years ago, the ancient Greeks had a center for studying the effects of different colored lights on the body. Even the ancient Egyptians, who promoted health by focusing sunlight through colored glass on certain areas of the body, understood this concept. Used for overall wellness and even chronic pain, these non-medicated patches can help you to heal your body down to a cellular level. Register today to hear her testimony and find out more!

9:00am-9:45am

Orthotic Workshop (45 minutes)

Dr. Amy Estes, PT, DPT, CFNIP will be talking about the benefits of orthotics for improving back pain, lower extremity pain, toe walking, knocked knees, flat feet, and muscular imbalance in adults and children.

10:00am-10:45am

Panel Discussion (75 minutes)

Come prepared with questions for our professionals. We will have some wonderful local ladies here supporting their small businesses and they know their stuff! We are happy to provide a safe space for you to ask any questions you may have on pelvic health, nutrition/disordered eating, infant feeding/pumping, doula services, pregnancy, orthopedic issues, etc.

3:00pm-4:15pm

Body Talk Workshop (90 minutes)

Mother’s and daughter’s (age 10-17) can join Dr. Kelley Penrose, DPT along with other health professionals, to discuss all things developing bodies. We will have a whole group discussion and then break out into 2 groups, one for moms, and one for the girls, to ask questions.

Topics include:

  • Periods: What is normal, and when to be concerned. Supporting your body throughout the month with diet and exercise, and period products. We have cups, discs, and period underwear on hand to feel and decide as an alternative to tampons and pads.

  • Diet: Understanding the dietary needs of developing kids and teens can be difficult to navigate. Our registered dieticians will talk about calorie needs for athletes vs. non-athletes, picky eaters, understanding gut health, and recognizing disordered eating habits and diagnoses.

  • Sexuality: For the mom’s breakout group, we will discuss how to start the awkward conversations about sex, protection, birth control, and finding good and reliable resources to have honest discussions. Providing kids and teens a safe space to come to you with their questions is so important in today’s social media-driven world.

  • Mental Health: From anxiety and depression to disordered eating and social pressures, we will discuss recognizing problems and finding resources when professional help is needed.

In order to create a safe environment for everyone, we ask that you submit questions ahead of time so we can prepare specific answers.

4:30-6:00pm

Hi, I’m Kristin! IBCLC, CLC and founder of Milk Guide. My passion is deeply rooted in my personal experience and life long passions to help others. I had a rough start breastfeeding our daughter and with the thoughtful care of an amazing IBCLC who came to my home to help me, I was able to have a long breastfeeding journey with our daughter.  Her support made me realize that I wanted to help other parents achieve their goals. God had a plan for me to help moms, and lactation has been my way to help people in the way that I always thought that I wanted to in healthcare!
