5 Tips for E-Learning
E-Learning is in full swing! While your kids are learning from home, it’s important that they are sitting correctly during those long school days. Whether your kids are at desks, the kitchen table, or other surfaces, correct posture during the day can not only prevent injury, but can also help keep up their energy and focus.
Avoid having them sit/lay on the couch or in the bed for extended periods of time while on the computer. Have them sit at a desk or table if possible.
Use a comfortable chair that will allow them to sit with good posture
Head should be right above shoulders and hips
If the chair doesn’t have adequate lumbar support, add a small pillow or rolled towel between your child’s back and the chair
Arms should be parallel to the surface they are working on. If you don’t have a chair that raises/lowers, try adding a booster seat or a couple of firm pillows on the seat of the chair to adjust the height
Feet should be on the ground or on a footstool
Keep knees at the same height or slightly lower than hips
Elbows at approximately 90 degrees
Position the head approximately an arm’s length away from the screen
Keep the keyboard and mouse close to each other to avoid reaching
Avoid sitting longer than 30 minutes at a time, taking a break of about 5 minutes per hour of sitting to take a brisk walk, stretch, or do other mild exercise
